19th Century Seated Figure of a Scot Colored Chalk circa 1875
Dimensions 9.75" x 11".
On hand laid paper. Very good antique condition.
A label from Russell Hartley fine paintings in San Francisco accompanied this at one point. The label is now lost, but we do have a copy we can print out and send with the drawing.
A fine drawing by a very talented artist. The fragment on the back has the name "Stephanoff" penciled in. This appears to have been added at a later date.
Russel Hartley was the curator of archives for the Performing Arts. He amassed a large collection of historical art and artifacts documenting the performing arts in the Bay Area.
This drawing may be a drawing of a performing stage figure.
A rare find. We think you'll agree.
