A feeding woman is an artwork realized by Suzanne Tourte in 1950s. Etching, 22 x 13 cm. Artist's proof. Hand signed on the right left. Good conditions, exept some yellowing on the paper due by time. Suzanne Tourte , was born on December 16, 1904 in Cormontreuil (Marne) and died in Argenteuil on April 18, 1979, is a French painter and lithographer. She moves to Paris in 1924, where she evolves in the artistic and literary world. André Maurois, Hervé Bazin, Paul Guth, Armand Lanoux, Louise de Vilmorin, Robert Mallet, Paul Fort cultivated her friendship and sang her praises. At the beginning of the 20th century, when the fundamental concepts of art were being questioned, Suzanne Tourte witnessed unbridled competition between artists seeking new ways of expression: the audacity of Fauvism, the affirmation of Cubism, the birth of abstraction, the aggressiveness of expressionism and many others, then the "return to order" in the Second World War. At the heart of this turmoil, Suzanne Tourte knew how to create her own universe. Her early works are frankly figurative. She then evolved towards a so-called "tortuous" period where the modeling of her characters is outlined in a line. But it is around the fifties that she, having reached the full maturity of her painting, gives her best. This very personal work, the most built, corresponds to the so-called geometric period. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
