Country of collection: Doune, Scotland, U.K.
Traveling in the southern Highlands of Scotland I came across Scottish Arts, Antiques & Crafts in Doune, Scotland.. I love the heavily carved wood and furniture that seems to prevail in Scotland. However, this particular tray caught my eye due to the mix of materials.
The English solid wood tray has a deep grained walnut finish, a fleur--de-lis style mother of pearl inlay cross with double handles made out of copper for ease in serving. Along with the black and mother of pearl inlay, the base is painted a striated grain pattern and is protected by plastic coating surrounded by a beaded rim border.
