Art Deco Sterling Silver Hand Mirror by Saart Brothers, c. 1920-1930
This marvelous and unique American made sterling silver vanity hand mirror produced by Saart Brothers. Started in Attleboro, MA by William Saart in 1905, shortly after brothers Albert and Herman joined and the company became incorporated in 1916. They were well known American silversmiths. This mirror was made in 1920-1930 in classic Art Deco style with its characteristic elegant lines and flowers. The decorative details on this hand mirror are simply graceful and inviting. It has a the rhodium plated satin finish, that is partially loose from the time. Besides all the wonderful perimeter designs, as shown, the center has a fancy cartouche which has been preserved in its original form without any engravings. The overall condition of this hand mirror is very fine and well kept. The original beveled mirror has a quality clear reflection, as well as some early signs of aging, which do not interfere with the image. The handle is hallmarked with the appropriate Saart Bros. insignia and the word sterling. I believe you will enjoy using and treasuring this American sterling silver hand mirror from Art Deco era.
