Chinese standing Kuanyin scroll, colored inks on heavy paper, mounted on a shimmering dark copper, grey and light blue, silk brocade in a dragon medallions pattern, signed, with numerous, varied, red seal marks and one inscription on the upper right in black xingshu script. The image size is 24.5" wide x 50.5" high. With a dark mahogany silk makio and kakio at the top and dark mahogany jikusaki at the bottom. The outer scroll cover is heavy raw silk. Circa early Republic of China era, no later than mid century.
A masterfully drawn depiction of Kuan yin standing on a lotus pod, amid lotus buds, flowers and leaves, with a halo. wearing the crown of Amitabha, her hands in atmanjali mudra and holding a lotus flower, with one of the eight Buddhis treasures, the Parasol, above her.
