Chinese seated Kuanyin scroll, colored inks on heavy paper, mounted on a shimmering silver, grey and light blue, silk brocade … Read more Chinese seated Kuanyin scroll, colored inks on heavy paper, mounted on a shimmering silver, grey and light blue, silk brocade in a dragon medallions pattern, signed, with numerous, varied, red seal marks and two inscriptions at the top of the image in black, xingshu script. The image size is 24.75" wide x 50" high. With a dark mahogany silk makio and kakio at the top and black jikusaki at the bottom. The outer scroll cover is heavy raw silk. Circa early Republic of China era, no later than mid century.

A masterfully drawn depiction of Kuan Yin sitting in Rajalalitasana within a mandorla, looking down on either Shancai or Red Bay, bedecked with long fluttering ribbons, who is standing on a lotus flower, all amongst the clouds. See less
