Crafted in Italy circa 1920, the square cocktail table stands on four boldly carved cabriole legs decorated with scrolling motifs and terminating in curled escargot feet.

The table features a richly shaped serpentine apron following the scalloped contours of the top. The surface is decorated with a recessed golden-yellow center framed by a contrasting brown and gilt border, accented with a delicate dark outline. The carved base retains a wonderful polychrome finish in muted green and deep reddish-brown tones, with gilt accents highlighting the scrolling legs and molded edges. Natural wear, fine craquelure, and variations in the painted surface enhance its authentic antique character.

The unusual low table combines the playful curves of the Louis XV style with the decorative tradition of Italian painted furniture. Its generous square proportions make it an ideal centerpiece for a living room, den, or seating area.

The antique coffee table is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and retains a rich, timeworn painted and gilt patina.
