The Skinny
A soulful little studio stoneware bowl that feels like twilight at the water’s edge—inky cobalt glaze outside, soft sea-glass interior. The hand-painted white botanical marks keep it playful and grounded, with just the right amount of wabi-sabi texture. Perfect as a small serving bowl, fruit bowl, or an everyday catchall that still looks collected.
More Details
This piece has that “one-of-one” feel you only get with handmade pottery: a deep, speckled cobalt exterior with simple white leaf/berry motifs and warm, iron-toned brushwork, paired with a calm, celadon-leaning interior that reads softly speckled and subtly glossy. It’s unmarked on the base (common with studio work), but the glaze chemistry, exposed clay foot, and painterly decoration all point to late 20th century studio stoneware—made to be used, and made to last.
Style-wise, it plays beautifully with Japandi, organic modern, rustic coastal, and mid-century spaces—equally happy next to linen napkins and teak, or layered into a more collected, English-kitchen shelf moment.
Dimensions: 8” diameter x 3” deep.
Materials: Glazed stoneware (unglazed foot).
Condition: Very good vintage condition. No chips or cracks observed in the photos. Gentle, age-appropriate surface wear and natural kiln/glaze variation throughout (the speckling and tonal shifts are part of the handmade finish).
