Crafted in France circa 1890 and built of walnut wood, the square table stands on barley twist legs ending with bun feet, connected with a X-form cross stretcher at the base dressed with a carved finial. The table is dressed with a single frieze drawer across the front and embellished with a brass pull handle. The top features hinged quadrants centering a carved rosette motif. Opening the table by unfolding the four napkin form sides and twisting the whole top in a secure position, it reveals a larger surface upholstered with green velvet. The Louis XIII style envelope card table is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and adorns a rich walnut patina. Practical, unusual and versatile, the table could also be used as a side or occasional table.
