James final novel, this is the story of two horses, one a pure pedigreed thoroughbred and one a thoroughbred of the wild, who escape their owner as colts and wander the wilds of the western United States. William Roderick James, "Will", was an acclaimed Canadian-American artist and writer of the American West. He is known for writing "Smoky the Cowhorse", for which he won the 1927 Newbery Medal, and wrote numerous "cowboy" stories for adults and children.
