Original models … Read more Pair of “Rialto” armchairs designed by the Finnish architect and designer Carl Gustaf Hiort af Ornäs in 1957. Original models produced by his own furniture company, Puunveisto Oy. First edition in teak with spring cushions. Rare on the market. Carl Gustaf Hiort af Ornäs has had a discreet career in the world of design. Today, his work is recognized worldwide. This armchair combines several artistic crafts: wood and leather. The result is fabulous. It is minimalist and sophisticated at the same time. It was designed and exhibited for the 11th Milan Triennale in 1957. The teak structure with its curved legs are made from a single piece of wood, the cabinetmaker's assembly of the armrests into straight tails is perfect. The refined appearance is given thanks to the black leather covering of the armrests and the weaving of the backrest with this same material. The armchair, a functional object becomes a luxurious decorative object. The seats and backs are also covered in a new ecru French terry fabric. Very good condition.
