They feature … Read more This is a set of 2 RARE and UNIQUE original French couture fashion drawings that date to 1960. They feature sweater designs by the well-known designer, Serge Matta, who was a fashion designer in Paris in the 1960s and 70s. (Serge is the brother of the surrealist painter Roberto Matta.) Early in Serge's career, he worked with iconic names such as Elsa Schiaparelli, Jacques Fath, and Helena Rubinstein and later he collaborated with Lucien Long and Elisabeth Arden. During the Mid-Century years, he succeeded in launching his own fashion label in Paris and it was at that time that he created these designs. They are immaculately pristine and clean and together make a wonderful fashion statement. The couture designs are sculptural and textural. They are rich in color, done in brown, blue, blue-grey, and gold gouaches and ink. Each has the Matta imprint. 7.75 x 9.5 inches in size. They come matted in white 16 x 20 inch custom mats that work with standard size frames. These are MOST unusual and we were fortunate to discover them in Paris. See less
