She was a … Read more Nell Blair Walden Blaine (1922 - 1996) was an artist from Richmond, Virginia known for her landscapes. She was a watercolorist and expressionist who spent the majority of her career in New York City and Gloucester, Massachusetts. Nell Blaine started as a realist, and her style evolved through an expressionist period to a modernist style toward her death in 1996. During the 1950s, Nell Blaine contracted polio. She was only able to use her hands for painting again after extensive physical therapy. This watercolor depicts a tree in a landscape. The colors are saturated and strong. The painting was probably done in the 1960s. It is signed in the lower left.

This painting is in very good original condition with wear consistent with age and use.
