Crafted in France circa 1850, the large artwork is presented in its original substantial carved giltwood frame, richly embellished with decorative foliate motifs.

The composition features a lush bouquet of garden flowers arranged in two vases, including bright red poppies, delicate white daisies with golden centers, yellow blossoms, and clusters of vivid blue cornflowers. The colorful arrangement stands against a dark background, creating a striking contrast that enhances the depth and richness of the flowers. Below, an assortment of ripe peaches and deep purple plums rests on a wooden tabletop, adding warmth and balance to the composition.

The artist’s skillful treatment of light and shadow, combined with finely detailed petals, foliage, and fruit, reflects the naturalistic tradition of 19th-century French still life painting. The richly textured brushwork and harmonious arrangement of colors give the composition remarkable depth and visual appeal.

The antique painting is set in an ornate, deeply carved giltwood frame featuring elaborate floral and foliate decoration with a warm, aged gold leaf finish. An indistinct signature is present but remains unreadable.

The large still life painting is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, displaying attractive age-related craquelure, rich colors, and wonderful details throughout. The original-style wooden stretcher and hanging wire are visible on the reverse. A beautiful addition to a dining room, living room, or traditional interior.
