An Important and Rare GEORGE III SILVER TEA SET AND ORIGINAL FITTED CASE, ENGRAVED ARMORIAL, FOR CAPT. SPEAR OF ROYAL NAVY, MARK OF EMES & BARNARD, LONDON, CIRCA 1812, four piece tea set of compressed squat circular form with moulded girdle on collet foot, comprising a teapot, cream pitcher, dual-handled waste bowl, and hot water pot, cased in solid oak and iron strapwork with exterior engraved brass nameplate, "Capt. Spear | Royal Navy" and interior trade plate for "Salters of 35 The Strand, London (Officers of the Navy and Army and East India Cadets fitted out)," the label for silversmiths, jewelers, and sword cutters.
Captain Spear served during the American War of Independence, and the French Revolutionary War, War of 1812, and Napoleonic Wars.
He also captained the ship that carried Princess Caroline to Greenwich for her marriage to the Prince of Wales
