An original watercolor on paper painting by Arthur Bedford Knapp-Fisher, British artist born 1888, "Fisher Row, Oxford - 1924" scene … Read more An original watercolor on paper painting by Arthur Bedford Knapp-Fisher, British artist born 1888, "Fisher Row, Oxford - 1924" scene of the street alongside a canal, houses to either side of the canal, two women conversing in front of one house, a man reading a newspaper in front of another house, 9 1/2" x 12", dated 1924 in the lower left corner front, signed A.B. Knapp-Fisher and titled Fisher Row in the lower right corner front. CA number 3954, CA purchased from a major regional British auction house August 2024.
The watercolor has been cleaned of surface dirt, re-matted with Antique White Museum matboard, line to the mat, Conservation Clear Glass, museum backing, framed in 1/2" antiqued gold moulding.
Knapp-Fisher was an architect and painter who lived in London. He studied at the Architectural Association, was a Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects and in 1934 was a Professor of Architecture at the Royal College of Art.
He was an Honorary Associate of the Royal Cambrian Academy and a Fellow of the Royal Scottish Academy.
He exhibited at the Royal Academy, the Redfern Gallery and the Ridley Art Club. See less
