Michel Tourliere, primarily a tapestry artist, was a professor at the École Nationale d'Arts Décoratifs in the town of Aubusson and was its director until 1969 when he left for Paris to direct the ENSAD. Tourliere found his unique style through the use of a pique technique which allowed for long streaks of color on a black ground. Tourlière's work often references the landscapes of the Burgundy vineyards featuring a specific range of color, often dark reds mixed with ochres, and white.

Dimensions: sheet sight 15 1/2 inches high x 19 1/2 inches wide; frame is 29 1/4 inches high x 33 inches wide.
