This vintage Turkish Kilim, handwoven from wool on a wool foundation in the Oushak region of Turkey, boasts a size of 4'2" x 5'. Kilims and Flat Weaves are known for their lack of pile, achieved by tightly interweaving the warp and weft strands to create a smooth surface. Typically made on horizontal looms, this technique produces striking geometric patterns. Due to their lightweight and soft texture, kilims were often utilized as sofa covers, drapes, pillows, table covers, and even wall hangings for both decorative and practical purposes, providing insulation from harsh temperatures.
