Wonderful vibrant fauvist mid century modern still-life of a plate with grapes and bananas by California artist Virginia Sevier Rogers (American, 1917-2015) c. 1960. This mid-century modern piece uses a bright and colorful fauvist color palette, with thick impasto to add texture and depth.

Rogers was born in Fort Collins, Colorado and studied with Hugh Breckenridge at the PAFA in 1934 and then earned a B.A. degree from the University of North Carolina and her M.A. at UC Berkeley.
