This 5 panel set was purchased at an auction house in London and has been in storage for 80 years and never before seen until now. It was still complete with the Hedley's Humpers label stickers. The quality and details of the painted glass are expertly designed and etched in a Lalique style. The sun shines through them allowing vibrant colors to warm an entire room. These 5 panels portray camel warriors, armed with bows and arrows, leaving a large castle. The castle is next to a beautiful mountain by a lake surrounded by animals and dragons. The dragon flying over the lake is amazing and the first panel shows the large wings of a dragon which we assume the warriors are sent to fight. We do not know anything about who made this scene but it was typical in historic battle to use Mongolian camel warriors and war elephants. It looks though that the large dragon on the first panel doesn't have the matching head to follow on the next panel which means there may be more to this piece out there. I included a photo of the elephant and rhino head at the bottom to show the two are actually different animals from the dragon body but when the whole scene fits together you can't even tell it is truly magnificent. We have never seen anything like these in all our years of salvage. Fortunately, we had it appraised by a stained glass master who was able to give us more information about it. See less

I included a photo where an unpainted spot seems discolored on the last panel. It is very small and almost unnoticeable. I also took a photo of the opposite smooth side of the glass, without the etching. Each are encased in heavy painted steel and come with small bronze latches along the top and sides where they would fit into each other. Each measures 20-1/4 inches wide by 75 inches tall. The screens are in good condition considering their age there are no major breaks or cracks in any of the panels there is some spotting and tripping marks to the edges and I'm not sure if it's simply patina from time and would clean off . I'm afraid to touch it or clean it with any cleaning agents or cleaners whatsoever it is absolutely breathtaking and has almost a 3-D effect to it which is hard to capture in photos . I can honestly say in over 30 years of salvage we've never came across anything quite like this. I'm absolutely certain this is something special The other side of the glass is smooth but the depth to the side that is raised with all of the added detail is simply amazing this is definitely something to see in person . The only thing that we noticed was the panel with the Dragon his body and his head it looks as though they were possibly another panel at one point they fit together beautifully in this pattern but I wonder if there were more originally . less
