Comes from the artist's portfolio published by Albert Skira in Geneva, Switzerland in the mid 1940s. Printed on heavy paper, on one side. Numbered in the lower right corner. Great quality and excellent condition, never framed.

Juan Gris (1887-1927) was a Spanish painter whose lucidly composed still lifes are major works of the style called Synthetic Cubism.

Now in full possession of his means, Gris tested out and developed the possibilities of Synthetic Cubism with unremitting rigor. Objects are not "described", but briefly "signified" in terms of those plastic signs which together go to form that "flat, colored architecture" which redefined the art of painting. The result here is a work of monumental complexity and majestic tensions. See less
