This is a Flatware Storage Box in the Tramp Art style, having a creation date of 1913.
The box is made of stained cedar, and was made out of old cigar boxes. The facade is all hand-notched.
It is not American, and we believe it to have been made in Germany.
The initials M M are featured on the top, and it is dated “1913” on the top of box.The date and initials most likely reflect its commission date for the original owner of the piece.
It is not often that you see this form of box in the tramp art style, and this example is lined in peacock blue velvet .
It has 4 small raised feet, with a small chip on one foot. Otherwise, this lovely piece has aged beautifully.
This box measures 13.74 inches long, 17 inches wide, and 5.5 inches high.
