Jean-Yves Couliou was active/lived in France.He is known for paintings,
...born in 1916 in Landerneau. He spent his childhood near Pont Aven, where his parents are from. He studied for eight years at the Beaux – Arts in Rennes, then at the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs, at the École des Arts Appliqués and at the Beaux – Arts in Paris. He is encouraged during his studies by the painters Brianchon, Dupas, Legueult, Roland Oudot, and Bissière. His pictorial style evolves from naive art to poetic reality and expressionism. Some of his works, painted during the 60s, are marked by a non-representational trend influenced by lyrical and geometric abstraction. His career is fruitful, with numerous prizes and medals in France and abroad. Some of his works are exhibited in numerous museums such as the Musée d’art Moderne in Paris, the National Museum of Belgrade and Glasgow. His work is also displayed in significant private collections.He died in 1995 in Lorient.
