This glorious & rare amber-colored glass hanging grape & gold-tone salt and pepper shaker set is the height of mid-century glam. This decadent treasure is one of the few remaining sets of its kind in the golden metal color offered by Taj Importing Co., San Francisco in the late 50s/60s. The wonderful articulation of the grape vine stand is carried through to the screw top of the grape cluster shakers. This piece is so well cared for that the original sticker remains in wonderful condition on the underside of the stand.
So sought after are these sets that one similar was featured on the HBO MAX series HACKS. In a pivotal episode Gene Smart is seen admiring her collection of rare antique salt & pepper shakers and front and center was a hanging grape set among the treasures. Some mid-century relics are meant to be enjoyed and used, while others are meant to admired for their visual delight.
