This playful 19th century oil on board painting of a cockatoo taunting two pugs is by Johann Hartung, also known as Carl Reichert.(1836-1918.) One of his strengths was painting vignettes of animals.
This painting is in good original condition with some wear to the surface of the board and losses to the frame, all due to age and use. Please see photos.
