This 6'3" x 9'9" Vintage Afghan Maimana Kilim is hand-woven by the Maimana tribes of Northern Afghanistan using wool on a wool foundation. Kilims and Flat Weaves are unique in that they do not have a pile, instead the warp and weft strands are tightly interwoven to create a smooth and geometric surface. This traditional weaving technique is done on horizontal looms and results in distinct patterns. Kilims are not only lightweight and soft, but also versatile, serving as sofa covers, drapes, pillows, table covers, wall hangings, tapestries, and insulation against extreme cold.
