A handsomely made bronze scale architectural model of an arched gateway circa 1880. The bronze is a great dark patina, making this scale model a beautiful architectural antique, and one of the more rare examples. Substantial weight.-13 lbs. Sits on a marble base. Measures a large 10.25” x 10.75” x 4”.(This bronze scale architectural model is believed to be based on Bishopsgate, one of the eastern gates in London’s former defensive wall. First built during the Roman times, the gate marked the beginning of Ermine Street, an ancient road running from London to York. It was rebuilt during the 15th and 18th centuries and later demolished in 1760.) See less
