Signed lower right, 'M. Watorski' for Mieczyslaw Watorski (Polish, 1903 - 1979) and painted circa 1950.
This Polish history and landscape painter is particularly revered for his documenting of life in the resistance during the Warsaw ghetto uprising and, later, of life in the concentration camps. His paintings have been used by the Polish Government to create numerous commemorative postage stamps including for the 'Polish Legions in the Spanish Civil War', '600th Anniversary of Bydgoszcz' and 'Grunewald' among many others.
