Rising to an impressive height, the lectern is surmounted by a boldly carved imperial eagle, its wings dramatically spread and its gaze turned in vigilant profile. A powerful emblem of authority during the reign of Napoléon Bonaparte, the eagle instantly anchors the piece within the grandeur of early 19th century France.
The double-sided swivel bookstand is formed in forged wrought iron, allowing sacred texts, legal volumes, or musical scores to be displayed from either side. The iron framework contrasts beautifully with the dark patinated carving of the eagle, enhancing both texture and depth.
