Crafted in France circa 1970, the decorative stand is attributed to Maison Jansen based on its elegant animal-inspired silhouette, refined metalwork, and resemblance to documented brass accessories associated with the celebrated Parisian design house.

The swan’s long, curved neck rises above a delicately modeled head with textured feather detailing and an engraved beak. Sweeping brass ribs suggest the bird’s wings while forming a generous open cradle for magazines, newspapers, or books. Slender supports flow beneath the body and terminate in charming stylized webbed feet, giving the piece stability while preserving its light, animated appearance.

The warm, naturally patinated brass finish accentuates the curved lines and adds character reminiscent of antique decorative metalwork. Both functional and highly decorative, the holder would make an appealing addition beside a club chair, sofa, writing desk, or library table.
