Carel Lodewijk Dake II (Belgian, 1886-1946) impressionist oil painting on board. Scene is of the Java Sea that lies between the Indonesian islands of Borneo, Java, Sumatra, and Sulawesi. Provenance: From a Georgia estate. Kaminski auction lot number on the back.
Carel Lodewijk Dake II arrived in Indonesia in 1912. In the following years he travelled in the archipelago and to many other South-east Asian countries and painted numerous landscapes.
