Oval majolica tray with shaped edge and polychrome Raphaelesque decoration with foliage and fantastic animals. Two dragons facing each other frame the Florentine lily, taking up a motif also quite well known in Deruta majolica. The blue mark on the back of the plate traces it back to the Bonato di Angarano manufacture (Archive of ceramic marks letter B). This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
