The original one of a kind mixed media painting on board is created by the American Folk artist Robert E. Smith in the late 20th Century.

Robert Eugene Smith ( 1927 - 2010 ) is a nationally recognized Outsider Folk artist. Robert was self taught, taking inspiration from coloring books, photos, history, new stories, and his own experiences. The paintings overflow with color, humor and incident, representing a triumph of imagination over a strenuous and difficult life. The work of an inventive story teller, his art works present witty, savvy, complex visual narratives. Smith's highly individual paintings revel in satire, revealing an eye for incongruity and an inherent love for life.

Robert was also a prolific writer, producing many self published volumes of poetry and semi autobiographical stories. Though he didn't drive, he traveled coast to coast by Greyhound bus. he carried a camera everywhere, to record scenes and faces for his paintings.

Smith's artworks have been features at New York City's prestigious Museum of American Folk Art, and have been gallery exhibited nationwide. Art works by Smith are included in the distinguished Museum of American Folk Art " Encyclopedia of Twentieth Century American Folk Art ".

The rare vintage one of a kind original framed mixed media painting measures 19" W X 14 3/4" H X 1 1/2" D. It is self framed by the artist in a dark walnut stained, gold tone metal trim detailed, wood frame molding.
