A vintage reproduction print of antique Ukiyo-e woodblock print by Utagawa Hiroshige, from his series, "The Fifty-Three Stations of the Tōkaidō Road".
Approaching to the Twenty-Sixth Station: Kakegawa. In the title block: "The distant view of Mount Akiba". A Buddhist monk accompanied by his servant heads towards the Akiba temple indicated by two lanterns. A couple of travelers greet the pilgrim. The peasants work in the rice fields. It is the fifth lunar month and the boys are having fun flying kites.
This reproduction print is not a woodblock reproduction, but offset, full-color print. Detailed.
Comes from a rare art folio published by Editions du Credit Lyonnais in Paris, France, in 1960. Printed in France, on one side of high quality heavy paper. Blank back, numbered on the back: XXVII.
