A vintage reproduction print of antique Ukiyo-e woodblock print by Utagawa Hiroshige, from his series, "The Fifty-Three Stations of the Tōkaidō Road".
Twenty-first station: Okabe. In the title block: "The mountains of Utsu". A torrent crosses the valley; in the center, the roofs of houses and peasants carrying. The canyon has been mentioned in many poems and in a drama whose subject is the assassination of a blind masseur.
This reproduction print is not a woodblock reproduction, but offset, full-color print. Detailed.
Comes from a rare art folio published by Editions du Credit Lyonnais in Paris, France, in 1960. Printed in France, on one side of high quality heavy paper. Blank back, numbered on the back: XXII.
Nearly excellent condition - minor edge wear, it was pinned in the past, two tiny holes very close to the top corners were smoothed, never framed.
