Stunning antique Beaux-Arts Italian marble mantel. This finely carved piece has a classic and elegant lower surround and cast iron fireback. The exuberant overmantel features paneling on the exterior border and an opulent and exquisitely detailed swag and substantial cartouche ornament framing a large overmantel mirror. This is a rare opportunity to acquire a Beaux-Arts fireplace, especially one in beautiful marble and at this level of craftsmanship and ornament. In excellent condition.
Provenance: From the residence of the famous architect Ernest Flagg, notable for his design of iconic buildings in New York City such as Scribner's Bookstore and The Singer Building, once the tallest in NYC. A true piece of New York architectural history.
Disassembled on two crates and easily shipped.
