Graphite on paper presented matted and in a giltwood frame. Unsigned but from a collection of her works dated 1928.

Anne Neumark (1906-1997) was a professional Mural and Portrait Painter. Born Boston, Neumark went on to study at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design. She exhibited at the Boston Art College and created a mural at the Edgar Allen Poe Shrine in Richmond, Virginia. While a student in the 1920s, Neumark moved with her mother and two sister to New York with the dream of becoming a professional portrait painter. The first public showing of her work in the city was at the prestigious Manhattan Gallery and was very well received. She would go on to become a highly accomplished New York art teacher and portraitist, with paintings in several museum collections. See less
