Fabulous and very rare 1972 poster for the Cirque Jean Richard, featuring the Bronleys.
Jean Richard was a French actor (he played Detective Maigret from 1967 to 1990), comedian and circus lover. He toured with a circus starting in 1957 and in 1969 finally launched his own big top circus, which became the largest circus in France featuring leading acts that were touring worldwide.
"For the First Time in France, Bronleys, The Most Extraordinary Attraction Ever Presented In a Circus" reads the publicity for this Space Age act. The poster depicts three aliens that look like Gort standing below while the Bronleys (the German husband-and-wife aerialist team of Werner and Elfriede Bronley) ascended in their Wonder Rocket (or Space Rocket) with Elfriede suspended from a trapeze in Werner's mouth. Printed by Chabrillac, Toulouse-Paris.
The unframed poster has crease marks from being folded, but is in otherwise excellent condition.
