A vintage reproduction print of antique Ukiyo-e woodblock print by Utagawa Hiroshige, from his series, "The Fifty-Three Stations of the Tōkaidō Road".
Second Station: Kawasaki. In the title block: "The Crossing of the Rokugo River". On the left at the top, Hiroshige's signature and the publisher's stamp. On the edge of the river, a pack horse and travelers, including one crouching in his sedan chair, await the arrival of the ferry. On the right, Mount Fuji. On the left, the Heikenji Temple where the great Japanese Buddhist Saint Kōbō Daishi (774-835) is venerated.
This reproduction print is not a woodblock reproduction, but offset, full-color print. Detailed.
Comes from a rare art folio published by Editions du Credit Lyonnais in Paris, France, in 1960. Printed in France, on one side of high-quality heavy paper. Blank back, numbered on the back: III.
Nearly excellent condition - minor edge wear, it was pinned in the past, two tiny holes very close to the top corners were smoothed and are barely visible, never framed.
