Departure from Edo. A feudal lord's procession passes in front of "Japan Bridge" presided over by two servants wearing ceremonial costumes in large crates and followed by two halberdiers and several samurai on foot. In the foreground, on the left, five fish and vegetable merchants are heading towards the city. At the top right, the Japanese legend mentions the name of the series: "The Fifty-Three Stations of the Tokaido". In larger characters: "Japan Bridge". In the red cartouche: "A Scene at Dawn". At the bottom right, the two characters of Hiroshige's signature and the third character "ga" means "hinge". At the bottom of the signature, the round stamp of the publisher Hoeido.
