One of 11 full-page lithographs by Bernard Buffet original to "Bernard Buffet Lithographs", the English version of "Bernard Buffet Oeuvre … Read more One of 11 full-page lithographs by Bernard Buffet original to "Bernard Buffet Lithographs", the English version of "Bernard Buffet Oeuvre Grave", which was a catalog of Buffets lithographs published between 1952 and 1966. The lithographs were printed by renowned printer Mourlot in Paris (1967) and published by the Tudor Publishing Company. The prints are signed in stone with verso text. A copy of the book's Colophon is provided. Print size: 12-1/4 x 9-1/2 inches. Printed on heavyweight Renage Acropole vellum paper. Mint condition new old stock from our complete volume of "Bernard Buffet Lithographs".

Bernard Buffet (1928–1999) was a French painter, illustrator and print maker known for his distinctive style, characterized by a somber color palette and a sharp, angular approach to form. Buffet was associated with the Expressionist "Miserabilist" movement, with his works often depicting bleak, melancholic scenes, including landscapes, portraits, and still-lifes. His art was known for its emotional intensity and stark realism. Buffet gained significant recognition in the 1950s and became one of the most famous and commercially successful artists of his time. His work was widely exhibited, and he became a symbol of post-war French art. Despite his success, Buffet's style fell out of favor in the latter part of the 20th Century.
