This set of two high-quality studio ceramic art vases was created by the famous ceramist siegfried gramann for the töpferhof römhild in thuringia, germany (then gdr) during the 1950s. Gramann became head of the pottery making in 1958. The company is family-owned since 1720. It was nationalized as veb töpferhof römhild in the gdr but was returned to the family in the 1990s. During gdr times the company became the biggest hand pottery in europe.
the company's ceramics studio was the heart from which new innovations in form and color constantly emerged. Artistic highlights were the international ceramics symposia initiated by siegfried gramann.
