The lamps were crafted from white Venetian glass enhanced with flecks of gold aventurine, with ribbing throughout the surface. They are further embellished with a bottom skirt of rigaree trim and bullicante detailing. Each lamp rests on a gilt bronze base resembling pointed flower petals with veining. They come with a pair of light beige lampshades, that are detailed with thin brown piping.

The Barovier family from Murano, Italy, have been world leaders in glass production since the Middle Ages. The Company was founded in 1295. In 1939 the company merged with the Toso family to become “Barovier & Toso”. The glasshouses on the island of Murano, like Barovier & Toso, are famous for highly ornamented glassworks made of pincered and molded blown glass.

The bullicante technique creates the controlled bubbles that ornament the glass, creating a polka dot pattern throughout. Aventurine, as its name suggests, is a decoration made by "aventitius" surface effects with flecks of gold, a 15th Century technique. The result of combining these techniques is this pair of magnificent table lamps, full of subtle texture and dynamism.
