Rathbone, Hannah Mary. So Much of the Diary of Lady Willoughby as Relates to her Domestic History, & to the Eventful Period of the Reign of Charles the First...
London: Longman Brown Green and Longmans. 1845. Third Edition. 12mo.; 220 pp. Later marbled boards, morocco label on spine, speckled leaf edge, sporadic wear at extremities, inked ownership inscription, "M.F.M. - 1891", on front fly leaf, very slight foxing at front endpapers. Very good.
The work's authenticity as a true diary was debated up until this third edition. In the preface,
"To the Reader. - style of printing", Caslon font, "and general appearance of this Volume has been adopted" ...to be in accordance with the design of the Author...who in this Work personates a lady of the seventeenth Century."
