The "Sir John Falstaff" toby jug was designed by Harry Fenton in 1946; inspired by the colorful character created by Shakespeare. Falstaff appears in three of Shakespeare's plays: 'Henry IV, Part 1', 'Henry IV, Part 2', and 'The Merry Wives of Windsor'. Falstaff has been wildly popular with audiences for four centuries. This toby was part of the first issue in 1949 and is so dated. "Falstaff" was issued in three sizes: miniature, medium and large; this being the large size. It's in excellent condition with no damage, scratches, etc.
