Benjamin William Leader RA (1831-1923) was born to a civil engineer father who was an enthusiastic amateur artist and frequently … Read more Benjamin William Leader RA (1831-1923) was born to a civil engineer father who was an enthusiastic amateur artist and frequently took the young Benjamin with him on sketching trips. As a young man Benjamin worked for his father as a draughtsman while he studied art in the evenings. At the age of 23 he was admitted to the Royal Academy Schools in London. During his first year he had a painting selected for exhibition, and his career followed that trajectory. “On The Way to Conwy North Wales” is signed on the front lower right while on the back is a label reading “Landscape and River View North Wales.”

This painting is in good original condition with some restoration and wear consistent with age and use.
