A large original vintage hand-coloured architectural elevation for maisonettes in the redevelopment of Poole's Old Town - the completed buildings can be seen on Whatleigh Close and Perry Gardens. The elevation is dated 1961, and was executed in a typical, clean mid-century style. Whilst a technical drawing, the it's very bold, visual and graphic, and would look great framed.
The chief architect for the redevelopment was Geoffrey Hopkinson, who also designed Poole's Arndale Centre. The plan was draughted by Douglas Black.
Black had a 40 year career as an architectural draughtsman, working on many civic projects in Manchester, Poole, Northamptonsshire and South Yorkshire. We acquired many examples of his work from his estate after he passed away, from his student years in the early 1950s through to his retirement in the late 1980s. This piece has an attribution mark,
