This cast bronze box with Islamic inlaid designs is likely from Mindanao in the Philippines. These ornate boxes hold the ingredients for the betel nut "quid" which was once a large part of ceremonial and social occasions.
Size: 4 1/8" w, 2" h, 2" d
Condition: one pin for the interior hinged boxes is missing. Visible oxidation to the interior boxes likely due to the slaked lime which is one of the ingredients.
