It is a traditional antique African sculpture from the Ivory Coast region of east African. It's in the Korhogo region where the indigenous people who carved this district statue are from. This is representative of the "Mother Spirit Figure," which protect the clan, and is a representative of divination and power. I have contacted the Pace African and Oceanic Art Gallery in New York and conferred with Carlo Bella who is head of the art gallery to form the description I have put forth here on Chairish. He was the person who was responsible for me to obtain the information that comes with this description. I shared photo's of my sculpture with Mr. Bella in order to identify my piece. In their collection they have pieces almost identical to this one ranging in price from $1800-to $3200. The indigenous African Soto people are a Bantu nation native to this region of Africa. I acquired it from a friend who owns the Little Paris Antique Shop in West Hollywood California. See less
