This pair of Daphne vases was designed by the artist Bele Bachem (1916 Düsseldorf-2005 Munich) for Karlsruher Majolika. The pieces are from the 1976 limited edition (No. 147/999). The female busts feature glazed polychrome hand-painting with long, slender neck and sculptural headdress in the shape of a lettuce head. Signed on the base and inscribed on the underside.
Bele Bachem's work is extensive and ranges from early poster designs, texts and illustrations, paintings to porcelain and ceramics. Her work and designs are often surrounded by a certain mysticism and have also been exhibited internationally. This piece has an attribution mark,
